Are you losing followers?

Social media marketing may not be as easy as it seems. It can sometimes take many months before any progress is made in terms of followers, likes and comments. These engagements are like gold dust for both newly founded and established companies. So why do they seem so hard to obtain? Or even worse - why are you losing what you’ve worked so hard to get? Here I have some tips on how to obtain and keep loyal followers for your brand or business.
Personality
To understand social media, it’s easiest to first understand how personal the platform is. Twitter for instance is literally the tool people use to post their personal opinions - live for the whole world to see. Instagram is the tool used to show exactly what everyone is doing in their personal lives; relationships, family and even what food their eating.
For a business or brand to be trusted - it has never been more important to show personality. Give the viewers of social media something to relate to. Nobody likes a blank canvas with information thrown outward, and worse - no one will bother to listen.
Make It Pretty
This one may seem obvious but sometimes it’s easy to forget instagram’s sole purpose is for aesthetics and imagery. Very few people want to read paragraphs especially on social media. Focus on how you can show what your service is through images and animation, rather than tell them. There are plenty of free online animation services which can give your profile a professional touch.
Try to avoid posting out of date pictures or anything bad quality. It’ll create distrust and make your brand look amateur. Most importantly to ‘make it pretty’ - post some pictures of YOU and your staff. Showing your viewers that your human definitely builds trust.
Your Service Is The Real Deal
A huge setback for a company is poor reviews and bad experiences. You may as well say goodbye to your online profile if your product is faulty and you haven’t acknowledged it. ‘Trolls’ are unfortunately something conceived from the dark places of social media, that’ll like nothing more than to tear you down. SO don’t give them leverage! Make sure your product or service is the best on the market, and if it isn’t - make sure your service is. A kind hearted company, who generally shows care for its customers, is the best possible thing to ward of the angry customers and nosey ‘Karens’.
Don’t Show Your Wrinkles
The worse thing for a company to do is to fall behind the times. Current trends are what keep social media alive and thriving. Get to know who is featured in the ‘social media world of news’ - what is everyone talking about? Acknowledging the global matters, public opinions and holiday seasons are the best way to draw attention. Show that your company is fresh and ready to face on climate change while uplifting woman’s rights at the same time. Know your audience and understand their opinions, then you will have enough resources to thrive.
That’s all from me - I wish you luck battling the giant world of social media. You got this!
